Rests

The matching symbols for silence.

Silence is written too

Every note value has a rest of the same length. You still count the beats — you just do not play them.

Whole rest hangs from the fourth line. Half rest sits on the middle line.

Half rest — the small block sitting on the line.

Quarter rest — the zigzag.

Eighth rest (one flag) and, next, the sixteenth rest with two.
